Sandy Kishton: A Relationship–and Community–Minded Realtor®
LAKE CITY, Fla. – With a career spanning over two decades, Sandy Kishton’s journey into real estate began in 2003 after transitioning from a career in the medical field. Kishton is a broker-associate with RE/MAX Professionals in Lake City.
Kishton is one of 20 Realtors who were in the first class to become Florida Realtors® Board Certified Realtors®, a new endorsement for Realtors who have reached the pinnacle of their profession and fulfilled leadership, education and skill-based achievements over the life of their real estate careers.
In her early years, Kishton honed her skills with a local independent firm in Lake City, eventually managing the office and its residential sales agents. This experience laid the foundation for her career and taught her how to build meaningful relationships. The market’s shift in 2011 led her to join RE/MAX.
“I've been with them ever since because I like their business model,” she said. It was at RE/MAX that her career took off, supported by an assistant to help manage the growing demands of her business.
Kishton specializes in residential real estate, with a particular focus on relocation and golf course communities. Her approach to relocation is referral-based, a testament to her reputation and the trust she has built within the community and industry. “I will stay in touch with my client after the sale. I think that's important to continue to build the relationship, especially in a smaller community,” she said.
Her passion lies in the relationships she fosters with her clients, treating each interaction not as a transaction but as an opportunity to create lasting bonds. This approach has resulted in a remarkable 80% of her business coming from referrals or repeat clients, highlighting her success in building a relationship-driven business.
“I have a marketing calendar and keep in touch through pop bys, mail, text messages, phone calls, lunches, you name it,” she said.
From a professional standpoint, Kishton added, “I feel it's important to stay involved in the industry and know what's going on because it is your business. So I've been on my local Realtor board for many years. I'm passionate about leadership and mentoring other agents because we can't be successful without each other,” she said.
Kishton has served as president of her local Realtor organization three times, chaired its local Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC), and contributed as an instructor for orientation classes, showcasing her leadership and dedication to mentoring others.
Beyond her professional achievements, her enthusiasm for engagement extends to various community organizations, including the Rotary, Altrusa, Habitat for Humanity, and the Chamber of Commerce. She has served as chair of the Columbia County's Affordable Housing Committee, helping to make homeownership more accessible to the community.
“Homeownership creates a sense of pride and a sense of community belonging, so the more people you can get in a home; the better,” said Kishton. “I think it's helpful to educate homebuyers about ways they can get grants and help buying a home.”
In every aspect of her career, Kishton exemplifies the ideals of professionalism, dedication, and community involvement. Her approach to building relationships and contributing to the industry and community is what drives her continued success.
