Florida Cities Rank Among Best for Food

Are your buyers foodies? A new WalletHub study shows several Florida cities rank tops in the U.S. for affordability, food diversity and high-quality restaurants.

TAMPA, Fla. – Food is truly to way to the hearts of Tampa residents.

From trendy hotspots downtown to hole-in-the-wall staples, the city is no stranger to an array of tasty options, as restaurants cater to customers looking for local, high-quality choices when it comes to serving foodies.

A new study from WalletHub ranked Tampa as the 5th best foodie city in America out of 180 U.S. cities.

Researchers factored 28 key indicators including the cost of groceries, affordability, food diversity, and accessibility to high-quality restaurants.

Here's how the top 10 cities ranked, along with their total score out of 100:

1. Miami, Florida (74.37)

2. San Francisco, California (71.66)

3. Orlando, Florida (71.43)

4. Portland, Oregon (69.48)

5. Tampa, Florida (69.31)

6. Sacramento, California (66.79)

7. Las Vegas, Nevada (66.51)

8. Seattle, Washington (64.69)

9. Denver, Colorado (64.08)

10. San Diego, California (63.74)

Other Florida cities that made the list were Fort Lauderdale (No. 19), St. Petersburg (No. 34), Jacksonville (No. 67), Tallahassee (No. 89), Cape Coral (No. 103), Hialeah (No. 105), Pembroke Pines (No. 109), and Port St. Lucie (No. 168).

Tampa ranked No. 76 in the affordability category, and No. 6 in the diversity, accessibility and quality category.

Miami also took the top spot in diversity, accessibility, and quality while Salem, Oregon ranked No. 1 in affordability.

When it came to the cost of groceries, Brownsville, Texas had the lowest costs, while Santa Rosa, California had the highest.
