Debby Insured Losses Inch Up

Over 19,000 claims have been filed from Hurricane Debby, which made landfall in Taylor County on Aug. 5. Florida Realtors DRF is accepting applications until Feb. 5, 2025.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Estimated insured losses from Hurricane Debby increased to $121.5 million as of Friday, up from $119.5 million two weeks earlier, according to data posted on the state Office of Insurance Regulation website.

The data showed that 19,973 claims had been filed as of Friday, with 12,814 involving residential property and others involving such things as damage to autos and commercial property. Insurers reported that 5,462 claims had been closed with payments made, while 6,447 had been closed without payments.

Debby made landfall Aug. 5 as a Category 1 hurricane near Steinhatchee in Taylor County, before moving across rural North Florida.
