Successful Habits of High-Income Earners

High-income earners build success with daily habits like journaling, setting intentions, prioritizing key tasks and protecting time for focus and creativity.

NEW YORK — High-income earners establish habits that fuel their success from sunrise to sunset, and these simple habits, when repeated daily, create a force that carries them forward.

Rather than start the day by checking emails, social media and their phone, high-income earners capture their big ideas and strategies in their early morning journal writing when their mind is clear. In the morning, people's minds are the clearest and individuals should pay attention to those thoughts and hunches.

Successful business owners also act intentionally each day and define it early, with some choosing one word to describe their day and mood. Such words can include fun, connection, achievement and focus. Once the right mindset is captured for the day, these individuals write down their three non-negotiable actions for the day. These tasks are often small and specific, as well as achievable within a few hours. In other words, larger projects are broken down into smaller achievable pieces that enable them to build momentum over time.

Successful business owners carve out time for themselves to meditate, create, work out, read or just meditate, and they protect the time fiercely. When journaling, business owners can uncover solutions to problems or find greater clarity in their decision making after clearing out the mental clutter.

Reviewing the daily schedule to determine if each item deserves time and energy can uncover meetings and tasks that do not serve the business. Airplane mode on the cell phone also can help establish boundaries and ensure business owners are in the moment and not distracted.
