Best Return on Investment (ROI)? Old-School Networking

RE and mortgage pros were asked what generated the most business for them, and most agreed that physically meeting people got them the best bang for their buck.

NEW YORK – Responses to a newly launched survey indicate that, of all the strategies real estate agents use to drum up business, they wrung the most value over the previous 12 months from traditional networking – going out, meeting people, shaking hands and making introductions.

The insight is based on data gathered from realty and mortgage professionals, investors and other stakeholders during September to populate the inaugural Inman Intel Index (Triple-I).

Of 397 responses received, almost 53% agreed that old-school networking yielded the best return for the time and money poured into it.

“Today’s agent is dealing with a lot of noise and negativity,” says Inman Director of Research Chris LeBarton, “but I think these findings suggest most aren’t looking for any port in the storm. They want to go back to the bedrock of the industry, which is the people they know and those who can help make connections.”

Just 7% of respondents named “buying leads” and “lead generation software” as their most productive use of time and money, while 16% pointed to social media.
