A Top RE Tool Isn’t New Tech: Text Messages

There are two strong selling points for text marketing and communication: Texts are delivered immediately, and they have an open rate as high as 98%.

NEW YORK – Real estate professionals should rely heavily on text messaging, in part because it offers instantaneous communication with potential buyers or tenants interested in a property.

There’s a growing preference for texting as many people’s preferred mode of communication – another advantage – and agents who communicate in customer’s preferred method show a commitment to excellent customer service.

Compared to other forms of communication, text messages get read more often. They have an open rate running as high as 98% according to some studies, as emails’ average open rate ranges from only 20% to 30%.

Texts are also effective for follow-up communication because they’re personal and direct, yet unobtrusive.

They also have another advantage compared to phone calls: Texts can create a written record of communication, even as technological innovations can make them automated.
