Minutes of Florida Realtors Board of Directors Meeting, January 2025
The Mid-Winter Business Meeting of the board of directors was held on February 2, 2025, via Zoom and in-person at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. The meeting was called to order by President Tim Weisheyer at 9:16 AM, with Secretary Cyndee Haydon being present. Robenson Juste provided the invocation. Renee Clark led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Attendance/approval of the minutes
Secretary Cyndee Haydon reported a quorum of 624 members in attendance. When voting commenced, 678 members were present and voting. Attendance records will be kept at Florida Realtors. Secretary Haydon also reported that the August 2024 meeting minutes were previously approved by the Leadership Team. This is in accordance with Florida Realtors’ current procedure, in compliance with Robert’s Rules, which states that when more than a quarterly time interval exists between meetings – and further when there is a change in the membership – the minutes should be approved by a committee appointed for the purpose of approving minutes, Florida Realtors’ case, the Leadership Team.
Reports of officers
President Weisheyer introduced the Leadership Team, recognized NAR Region 5 Vice President Christina Pappas, and recognized Florida Realtors endorsed candidate for NAR First Vice President Colin Mullane. President Weisheyer then introduced a video to recognize the 2024 local REALTORS® of the year.
Chief Executive Officer Margy Grant presented the “State of the Association” Report.
Treasurer Jeffrey Levine presented the December 2024 Membership Report and the December year-end 2024 Financial Status Report. Treasurer Levine reported through the end of December paid membership in Florida Realtors was 240,675.
Special presentations
President Weisheyer delivered an In Memoriam presentation honoring Past Presidents Don Asher Jr. (2001), Maurice “Moe” Veissi (2002), and Frank Kowalski (2005), paying tribute to their contributions and enduring legacy within the association.
Approval of the Election Rules & Election Committee
A motion was adopted by the board of directors that the 2025 Election Rules be approved as presented. The President appointed the following members to serve on the Elections Committee: Chair Gia Arvin, Past President Chip Boring, Amy Mullins, Silvia Dukes, and Alisa Rogers.
Committee reports - action items
Leadership Team – Vice President Jorge Guerra, Jr.
- Bylaw Amendment #1 was adopted by the board of directors to amend Article 4, Sections 11.D, E and F.
- Bylaw Amendment #2 was adopted by the board of directors to amend Article 7, Section 3.C.
- Bylaw Amendment #3 was adopted by the board of directors to amend Article 11, Section 1.
- Bylaw Amendment #4 was adopted by the board of directors to amend Article 12, Sections 1.A and 1.B.2.
- General Policies Amendment #1 was adopted by the Board of Directors to amend General Policy 3.3.
- General Policies Amendment #2 was adopted by the Board of Directors to amend General Policy 4.2 by adding Section H, Innovation Fund.
Finance Committee – Chair Jeffrey Levine
- A motion was adopted by the board of directors to approve the proposed amendments to the 2025 budget as presented. These amendments reflect changes to adjust to new information.
- A motion was adopted by the board of directors that ten million dollars be internally earmarked from the Reserve Fund to the Innovation Fund.
Public Policy Committee– Chair Jarrod Lowe
- A motion was adopted by the board of directors that Florida Realtors support legislation to cap/limit lookback periods for “substantial damage” and “substantial improvements.”
- A motion was adopted by the board of directors that Florida Realtors supports the preservation and protection of our state parks and their natural resources. It shall be Florida Realtors policy position to oppose development within our state parks that causes adverse and lasting impact on our natural habitat.
Charitable donations
Reports were provided on the charitable efforts and foundations including Florida Realtors Education Foundation, Homeownership for All, and Silent Angels.
