Realtor® Pamela Lynn Smith: Helping to Change Lives

PENSACOLA, Fla. – After 89 years living in the same home, a chapter in the homeowner’s life was about to close as she made the monumental decision to transition into assisted living. This step introduced her to Realtor Pamela Lynn Smith, broker-owner of Real Estate Counselors in Pensacola.

“It took us a year before she really felt comfortable moving forward,” says Smith. “Every time we had a showing – and it showed frequently because it was a historic home in a popular part of Pensacola called East Hill – the owner insisted she be present.”

Following each house showing, the pair would find themselves in the owner’s kitchen, cups of tea in their hands, discussing the day's progress. Potential offers were dissected, and the emotional ups and downs patiently navigated. Pamela wasn't just selling a home; she was helping a friend find her way through an emotional labyrinth.

Finally, after a year and a half, “The homeowner finally came to terms and agreed to an offer that was identical to the first one I brought her. At the previous time, she just wasn't ready,” says Smith. When the time came for her to move, Smith was there and organized an estate sale. The connection between the two grew into a deep friendship, filled with theater outings, shared meals at the assisted living facility and conversations about life's many transitions.

Smith has numerous similar stories to tell. So, it’s no surprise that Smith, known for her blend of empathy and business acuity, specializes in aiding first-time homebuyers and senior citizens transitioning homes. This empathetic approach to real estate extends back to when Smith, her husband, and stepson Durward Smith, bought their real estate business in 1997. Their brokerage has been serving Pensacola since 1962 and continues to thrive today under the trio’s unique blend of dedication, passion, and community spirit.

Smith is one of 20 Realtors in the first class to become a Florida Realtors® Board Certified Professional, a new endorsement for Realtors who have reached the pinnacle of their profession and fulfilled leadership, education and skill-based achievements over the life of their real estate careers.
