Realtors Fundraise for Disaster Relief
NAR kicked off its fundraiser for its Realtor® Relief Foundation with a $1M goal. Florida Realtors is also seeking donations for its Disaster Relief Fund.
ORLANDO, Fla. – In honor of June’s National Homeownership Month, the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) launched an ambitious $1 million fundraiser for its Realtor® Relief Foundation (RRF) to support families devasted by disasters nationwide. At the same time, Florida Realtors® is actively campaigning for its Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) to provide critical aid to Realtors in Florida, associations and others.
The two funds demonstrate a collective commitment to helping homeowners and local communities after floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires and other destructive events.
For the NAR RRF fundraiser, Realtors set a personal fundraising goal to run, walk, swim, ride, roll (or any other creative method) in exchange for raising donations. Individuals and teams establish their own fundraising goals and distance. To set up a fundraising site, visit NAR.Realtor/RRFJune.
“I can’t think of a better way to showcase partnerships and support communities and neighbors in need,” said Eric Sain, NAR’s 2024 vice president of association affairs, said. “For more than 20 years, RRF has been there to assist victims of natural disaster and provide hope when it seems lost. With your help, we’ll ensure that it continues to provide hope for families across the country. I know I can count on the generosity and kindness of members because that’s who we are.”
The Florida Realtors DRF, formed in August 1992, has been assisting Realtors, their employees, local associations and staff who experienced damage to their primary residences or offices caused by natural disasters. To date, the DRF has awarded more than $5.5 million.
Currently, the DRF is accepting application for members of the Florida Realtors family who sustained damage during:
- Tornado events in north Florida on May 10, 2024; applications close November 11, 2024.
- Severe weather events in Florida on January 9, 2024; applications close August 15, 2024.
- The NAR RRF is also accepting grant application to provide housing assistance to the families impacted by Jan. 9 severe weather events in Florida. Florida Realtors members may apply for assistance from both. Applications close August 15, 2024.
