Realtor Magazine Shares Proposed Settlement Facts
Read a special digital supplement of Realtor Magazine with important content that dispels misinformation and myths about the proposed settlement.
CHICAGO – Realtor® Magazine, the magazine of the National Association of Realtors®, announced a 16-page digital supplement with valuable resources that help separate facts from fiction about the proposed $418 million settlement agreement to the Sitzer-Burnett verdict.
The content debunks myths and helps explain the importance of a written buyer agreement. The supplement also includes tips for talking with buyers and sellers.
The agreement, reached in March, resolves claims against NAR, more than one million NAR members, state/territorial and local Realtor associations, all association-owned MLSs and all brokerages with an NAR member as principal that had a residential transaction volume in 2022 of $2 billion or below. However, agents affiliated with HomeServices of America and its related companies – the last corporate defendant still litigating the case – are not released under the settlement, nor are employees of the remaining corporate defendants named in the cases covered by this settlement. The settlement must be approved by the court.
