Affordable Housing Breaks Ground in Polk County
The $23M project will be for “high-need families” and also offer coordinated support services. Rents will be based on the area median income limits.
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – St. Petersburg-based developer Blue Sky Communities broke ground on a $23 million affordable housing development in Polk County, Florida, called Jersey Commons in Winter Haven.
The community will have three buildings with 68 one- and two-bedroom units, with rents ranging from $402 per month to $964 per month based on the area median income limits of 30%, 50%, and 60%.
Blue Sky Communities is working with Sarasota-based CASL (Community Assisted & Supported Living) and Tri-County Human Services, and the development is for high-need families and will include coordinated residential services “to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.”
Winter Haven Mayor Nathaniel Birdsong said, “This initiative represents a powerful collaboration aimed at addressing the critical need for affordable housing and comprehensive support services and sets a new standard in our community.”
